The home is spacious, historic, and conveniently located. However, we are very unsatisfied with this stay for many reasons. The "neighbor" who frequently helped himself to the poorly maintained property during our visit also clearly monitored our every move (in addition to the cameras). During our stay, family visited briefly in the early afternoon to see our three-year-old daughter. There was no disturbance, and we were very respectful of the property. Yet, the owner’s brother—who lives next door—apparently reported us for exceeding the six-person occupancy limit, which we understood to apply only to overnight guests (although the guest book clearly states that more than 6 people have stayed on multiple occasions). We received several emails, calls, and texts from both Evolve and the owner stating our violation, including a threat of eviction. It would have been far more reasonable to contact us first to give the opportunity to clarify, but the owner and sibling-surveillance chose otherwise. Evolve could also have inquired more gently and confirmed the situation instead of immediately jumping to threats against a very respectful family. We are experienced travelers with numerous positive stays across the country (and internationally) and have never received a negative review on any rental. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing experience we have had. We are insulted, and all could have been easily avoided with better communication.
We came with 2 other couples to enjoy 5 days in Louisville in the fall. We were there to do some bourbon tours as well as Churchhill Downs tour and hopefully to see some colorful leaves. The weather was much better than at home, but not quite as cool as we had hoped! The home was lovely. it was a good set up for us. The 2 bedrooms on the main floor share a bathroom for that floor. There are 2 rooms upstairs (one was a full size bed) and they share a bathroom as well. There is a half bath down in the basement too. The stairs can be a bit tricky so just be careful, if you are unsteady, be sure to nab one of the main floor bedrooms. The house has tons of space to hang out either together or separately. The water pressure in the showers is unbelievable! The home was sparkling clean and felt safe in a great area. Lots of great places to eat nearby, including La Suerte and Noche as well as a pie and ice cream place. YUM! It was centrally located so not far from the tours we were going to.
The home is charming and impeccably kept. The owner responds quickly to any questions and is very accommodating. Check-in/Check-out process is easy. I highly recommend this property!
This house was the perfect spot for my sisters and me to stay while in Louisville for my son's graduation from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College (10 minutes away). The home is impeccably kept and even more charming than the photos imply. Bonus: It was far more affordable to pitch in to stay here than it would have been for us to get three separate hotel rooms in the area for two nights. The home's owner responded quickly to any questions I had and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I can't recommend this property enough. If ever in Louisville again, I will definitely book this sweet gem.
The character, location, and amenities of this house made it the perfect spot for our gathering of high school friends visiting Bourbon Country. The four large bedrooms allowed us to each have our own room with bathrooms conveniently located. There are so many sitting and gathering places that impromptu conversations happened all over the house, all weekend. The house has a great vibe, with the limestone porches, great wood floors and trim, and funky bathrooms. But the updated kitchen made drink and snack preparation very easy. We also made use of the washer and dryer and ironing board in the basement. The house has a great location, with easy access to the airport, downtown, and Highway 264 to head to distillery visits. In the immediate neighborhood, it was so convenient to head to Kroger’s or Walgreens and very easy to walk to First Watch for breakfast. Maybe best of all, the owner was incredibly easy to work with an accommodating. The house is definitely on our list for a return visit.
